DUTY INCREASED
JAPANESE COTTON. GOODS IN INDIA (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) CALCUTTA, 31st August. Mainly as the result of abnormal imports at low prices of Japanese goods due to the depreciation of the yen, the India Government has increased the duty on cotton piece goods not of British manufacture from 20 to 50 per cent, ad valorem.
