DISPARITY IN PRICE
(By T6lograph—Press Association) DUNEDIft, This Day. Mr Cookson, secretary of the New Zealand mill owners replying to a Christchurch statement by the lion. A. Hamilton regarding Ihe disparities in the relail prices of knitting wool and the prices received by the primaiy producers, stated that wool manufacturing was not prosperous, as was shown by tho balance sheets of the majority of the companies. The Owners’ Association was in communication with the department, which doubtless would make a public statement on the completion of llie investigation.
Inquiry at. drapery stores reveals that knitting wool quoted by the Minister at 18s a pound is the highest grade English importation, while popular high quality New Zealand wool sells at 9s Id a pound.
