ON A ROCK
ABERDEEN LINER FERNDALE (United Proas Association--By Electric Telegraph - -Copyright) LONDON, 16th June. A Gibraltar message states that tho Aberdeen liner Fcrndale sent out an 5.0.5., indicating that her position was near Daily's Rock, 49 miles east of Algeciras. A later message from Algeciras says that the oil tanker British Sovereign picked up the S.O.S: and raced lo the Fcrndale s assistance. She found the Fcrndale fast on a rock. Everyone on board was safe. Tho salvage steamers Geir and Freja are going from Gibraltar and Marseilles to Hie assistance of the Fcrndale. TOTAL LOSS FEARED (Received 18th June, 9.0 a.m.) LONDON, 17th June. The Fcrndale stranded during denso fog. All the forward holds arc sub-, merged, and she is feared to be a total loss. There are good prospects of salvaging all tho cargo in the holds. All hands are safe. The majority will ho despatched from Algiers, whence a salvage company is expediting tho, discharge of cargo.
