PROGRESS OF FINANCE BILL AVOIDING EXTRA TAXATION AT BRITAIN'S EXPENSE (Duitod Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) DUBLIN, 16th June. The Bail read Hie Finance Bill a second time by 68 votes 58. Mr MaeEntree, Minister of Finance, said that extra taxation would be avoid, ed if the Bail united together to secure the remission of payments lo Britain bv withholding £1,100,000 in respect of Irish eonstabuiatory pensions, £600,000 in respect of local loans, in addition to £3,000,000 in connection with land annuities. He added that he believed the Free State would secure these remissions if the Opposition would back the Government up. Political circles believe that Mr de Valera’s Note to Mr Thomas was despatched to-night, detailing the Free State’s reasons for withholding land annuities.
