County cricket results are:— Yorkshire, in the first innings, lost one wicket for 555 runs declared (Sutcliffe 313, Holmes not out 224). Essex, first, 78 (Verity, 7 overs, 3 maidens, 8 runs, 5 wickets). Essex followed on and made 164 (Verity five for 45, Bowes five for 47). Yorkshire won by an innings and 313 runs. Sutcliffe is tho first to reach 1000 runs for the season. Notts, first, lost eight wickets for 414 runs declared (Shipson not out 118). Hampshire, first, 158 (Larwood four for 46). They followed on, making 243 (Brown lif), Voce taking five for 93 and Larwood four for 52). Notts won by an innings and 53 runs. Leicester, first 271; second lost nine for 222 (declared). Glamorgan, first, 211; second 198. Leicester won by 84 runs. Kent, first 265; second 189 (Copson five for 40). Derby, first, 279; second 152 (Freeman six for 85). Kent won by 23 runs.

Lancashire, first lost two for 428 declared (Tyldeslcy not out 225, Iddon not out 100). Worcester, first, 97 (Hodgson four for 32). They followed on and made 226. Lancashire won by an innings und 105 runs.

In a friendly match, Sussex, first, made 536 (Duleepsinh ji 126. Bowlcv 146. 11. Parks 120). Surrey, first 289; followed on, 223 (Tate five For 33). Sussex won by an innings and 24 runs.
