LAND SETTLEMENT
STATEMENT BY MINISTER (By Telegraph—Press Association) WELLINGTON, This Day. During the three years ended last March 2080 farms, with a total area of 788,400 acres, were selected by new settlers throughout New Zealand, according to a statement made by the Minister of Lands. Of these farms !)54 comprised properties that hud never previously been selected. ' The total area of these entirely new farms is about 200,000 acres, and they included 247 farms provided out of estates purchased and subdivided for closer settlement. 'The remainder 1125 chiefly comprised partially improved and deteriorated sections which had been forfeited or abandoned and which were reselected with advances for-development.
