ELECTIONS IN MANITOBA

BRACKEN GOVERNMENT’S VICTORY (United Tress Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) WINNIPEG, 16th June. The Government of Mr John Bracken has been returned to power at the Manitoba general election. Incomplete returns late on Thursday night give the tlovernment 22 seats, and they are lead, iiig in 11 ridings. Three Conservatives have been elected and they are leading in 7 ridings. One Labour representative has been returned, and one Independent. One Cabinet Minister, Mr Ewan McPherson was defeated in Portage la Prairie by the Conservative leader, Mr F. G. Taylor. The Premier, Mr Bracken, has headed the Progressive Government since 1922. A few weeks ago he formed a coalition with the Liberals. (Received 18th June, 9.5 a.rn.) WINNIPEG, 17th June. Hard times failed to defeat the Manitoba Government. Thursday’s election was fought largely on the past record of the Bracken Administration. The Conservatives had attacked the administration of finances. Dominion politics also played a part, Mr Bracken blaming the depressed conditions in Manitoba iri part on the tariff policy of the Federal Government.

On Friday morning the position was: Government 28; Conservatives 4 ; Labour 1; Independent 1 ; doubtful twenty, two; deferred elections two. Colonel Ralph Wt-'bb, Mayor of Winnipeg (Conservative) was elected for Assiniboia.
