BLENHEIM SALE BACK TO FREEZING PRICES A total of 426 fats and 3751 stores — the largest yarding so far this season—were entered for the weekly stock sale at Blenheim, reports the “Express.” The quality was, on the whole, excellent. The attendance of buyers was not so large as usual, and this probably accounted for an easing of about one shilling in the prices paid for fat sheep. Values for fats are now back at freezing works prices again. Lambs sold at from 4s 9d to 13s Id for a small lino of exceptionally fine quality. Not many ewes were offered. Tlfcy sold at from 3s lOd for a pen of very light specimens, to 6s 3d for a pen of 20 sold on account of Graham Bros. An average figure would be about ss. At- last week’s ewe fair the range was from 4s lOd to 6s lid. Wethers sold fairly freely, making from 7s 5d for a pen of very ordinary quality to 9s 9d for some offered by Graham Bros. Another two lines went at 9s 9d also. Mr M. Evans offered a good line of halfbreds and these fetched 9s 6d. An average price would be slightly over 9s. Store sheep prices were about on a par with those offered a fortnight ago, with the exception of lambs forward enough to fatten before the freezing works close down. These were sold at an advance of easily a shilling a head. The greater proportion of the store yarding was composed of ewes. for which there was a ready market in view of the close approach of the breeding season. Good sound-mouthed ewes sold at from 3s 9d for low quality ones to 9s 3d for the primest. The average price was about 7s. or a little over. Four and six-tooths made from 6s to 11s 3d for a nice line of four-tooths. Another line of four-tooths went at 9s 9d, and a pen of mixed four and six-tooths at 8s 2d. Two other pens brought 6s and 6s 9d. Two pens of good two tooths were knocked down at 5s Id and 6s Id, while another couple of pens of two, four and six-tooths went at- 7s 9d and 11s 3d. Four and eight-tooths sold at from 7s to 13s Bd, which was given for a primo pen of 149 offered by Mr G. Wells, of the French Pass. A draft of two and four-tooths made 12s A line of forward ewe lambs were bought at 7s. A Den of come-back two-tooth wethers was 'quitted at Is lOd and six-tooths fetched from 6s to 7s 3d, with an average of about 6s 6d. Two lines of twotooths brought 5s Bd. Wether lambs went at from 3s 9d to 8s for a line of 55, the average being about 6s.
