NELSON UNEMPLOYMENT COMMITTEE

THE No. 5 SCHEME

The Nelson Unemployment Commit Lee suggests that, in view of the fact that the sum allocated weekly under the No. 5 scheme to this district is occasionally insufficient to employ all the applicants who are eligible, any men who have been given work under the scheme and who have been able to obtain other ern ployment, or who for any reason are unable to take advantage of the work offered, should notify the Government Labour Bureau to that effect as soon as possible. It must be i understood that it is the duty of the Committee to see that the sum allocated is used for the relief of eligible applicants, and having allotted the work to a given number of men, they are unable to assist others during that week who may lm in urgent need of work unless they are notified by those who for any reason do not take advantage of the work, The Committee earnestly requests that assistance he given to them in tin’s direction, and ask the men to realise that by failing to notify, they keep someone else out of a job.
