WELLINGTON HOSPITAL
SERIOUS CASES
Marked decrease in number (Bv Telegraph—Press Association) WELLINGTON, This Day. There lias been a notable decrease in the number of cases of acute medical disease among admissions to Wellington Hospital during the last few months. The incidence of pneumonia is only a fraction of what it has been in former years at this season. The number of cases of scarlet fever is also very much lower than usual. This decrease in the number of serious cases lias enabled the board to close two wards without any loss of efficiency. It has been possible, therefore, to make a reduction in the staff, and in view of the unfavourable economic conditions certain vacancies in the staff are not being filled. It is understood other wards may be closed if this can be done without impairing efficiency.
