ACCOMMODATION HOUSE DESTROYED INMATES ESCAPE IN NIGHT ATTIRE (By Telegraph—Press Association) BLENHEIM, This Day. The Rai Valley accommodation house, of 16 rooms, owned by M. Hart and leased by G. Mosely, was totally destroyed bv fire at 2.30 this morning. It was built six years ago. The eleven inmates only had time to escape in their night attire. Splendid work by residents saved the adjoining store and bakehouse, owned by Hart, A very heavy frost during the night made it difficult at first to obtain water, which hampered the fire-fighters’ efforts. The telephone wires were burnt through. The building was insured for £I2OO in the Yorkshire Office and £SOO in the Norwich Union; and the contents for £450 in the Yorkshire and £IOO in the Norwich Union. garagYgutted FIFTEEN CARS BURNT ' WAIROA, This Day. Fire gutted the whole front portion of the Wairoa Motor Garage Company’s premises at midnight. Fifteen cars were burnt and stock was damaged by smoke and water. The brigade effected a smart save, the fire being extinguished within five minutes of the alarm. The building and contents were insured in the Norwich Union office. FIRE ATORINOCO SETTLER’S HOMESTEAD DESTROYED At about 3 o’clock this morning the homestead of Mr Don Llewellyn, at Rosedale road, Orinoco Valley, was totally destroyed by fire, together with practically all the contents. When discovered the fire had a strong hold; and the occupants of the house, including Mr and Mrs Llewellyn, two "children, and Mr Llewellyns’ father-in-law, had barely time to escape. The building was insured for £350 in the State Office, which also held a cover of £320 on the contents.
