VEGETABLE "LIGHTS”
Several varieties of tho vegetable kingdom arc luminous in a greater or less degree. Ono of the fungi, which is not at all uncommon on the walls of damp, dark mines, caverns, etc., occasionally emits sufficient light to admit of the reading of ordinary print by it. Tho emission. of light from the common potato when in a state of decomposition is sometimes very striking.
