"CUPPER"
A "clipper” vessel, so called from the style in which it is constructed, Ims been defined as a fast-siiiling ship built on fine, sharp lines, and adapted more for fast soiling than for carrying a large cargo. Its line lines enable such a vessel lo “clip” or “cleave” the wafer with more ease than heavier craft with greater beaut, lienee, the word "clipper” may he said to he synonymous with “cutter 1 ’ —though (lie latter is applied only to yachts and small craft.
