INCREASE TO BE MADE Distributors have been notified by a leading tobacco packing company that quotations for all Now Zealand packed cut and plug tobaccos have been advanced Is 6d lb and all imported packs of cut and plug by Is 7d a lb, which is 2d and a 3d a lb respectively more than the new duties. No alteration has taken place in cigarettes or cigarette tobaccos. Owing to the heavy previous taxation on fine-cut cigarette tobacco, fine-cut plug tobacco has recently found much favour with smokers for cigarette making, and manufacturers have not been slow to appreciate the position.
