FATAL ACCIDENT

FALL OF 220 FEET (By Telegraph—Press Association) WHAKATANE, 4th August. A fatal accident occurred at Galatea road construction works yesterday. A workman, L. Tehaara, married, aged about 2(1 years, fell from the top of a cliff to tiie roadway 220 feet below. The men were working with lifelines, and deceased desired to lengthen his line and climbed up the rope. On reaching the top lie tripped and fell, his body landing on the roadway alongside a mate with whom lie had been working a few minutes previously. Deceased was transferred recently from the railwav works at Gisborne.
