LICENSING FACILITIES AT TOURIST RESORTS

Tw! ■ . MR G. C. BLACK’S VIEWS (From “The Mail’s” Parliamentary Reporter) WELLINGTON, 4th August. Licensing facilities of .unlicensed , jqririst resorts as a means of attracting patronage were advocated in the House today by Mr G. C. Blnck (Independent, Motuena) speaking on Mr Mason’s Licensing Amendment Bill. “I would like to suggest” lie said, “that the time is opportune for Parliament to consider what is going to be done with respect to several tourist hostels in New Zealand. I would refer to those at. Fox Glacier, Waitomo Caves and Tongariro. It is well known to those interested in our tourist traffic that because facilities are hot available at these particular resorts as thev are at Mount Cook, Queenstown, and Rotorua, those natural assets, which I think are superior to the attraction at the other places I have mentioned, do not receive the patronage they should receive in our tourist industry. I trust those interested in tourist traffic will see to it that fill possible steps are taken to ensure the necessary facilities are made available at the tourist resorts I have referred to.”
