MISHAP TO ’PLANE AT TAHUNA

SECOND MACHINE BRINGS NEW PROPELLOR Yesterday morning at about 11 o’clock a Wellington Aero Club hilane, piloted by Pilot Waite, arrived at Tahuna to pick up a passenger for Wellington, Mr R. Connor. The tide was in at the time and in landing the machine struck a soft patch in the sand and turned over on to its back. The propellor blade was broken and the rudder damaged, but the pilot escaped uninjured. Communication was gained with Wellington and at 5 p.m. Captain Stedman, in another Wellington Aero Club plane, arrived, with Pilot W, Duffy as passenger, bringing with him a new propellor. Captain Stedman landed on Mr C. Webby’s paddock at Stoke. The new propellor was fitted last evening, when Captain Stedman took the ’plane from Tahuna to Stoke, making a splendid landing in the dark. This morning soon after 7 o’clock the two machines left for Wellington, taking with them the passenger.
