SOLDIERS OF FORTUNE LOSING GROUND LONDON, 27th March. A Berlin correspondent, summing up the aftermath of the Nazi election in September and the Reichstag’s second successful session, says that although the first wave of the Nazi offensive bad receded, there is bound to be. a second. Everything depends whether‘it is weaker or stronger, and that depends on how long it is delayable. There is no reason to suppose that the Nazis are up to any particular mischief at the moment, but certainly they are doing their best to make up the ground they have lost in the country. Their methods are unscrupulous, and they are masters of the art of misrepresentation. Many people were at fivst carried away by the movement, but they have since become disillusioned. There is no evidence, however, that theip followers are even beginning to realise what fools the 107 Nazis representatives have made of themselves. If a General Election took place to-morrow they would he greatly weakened. The truth is that Communists’ views are fairly consistent, but the Nazis are mere soldiers of fortune, empty of ideas, and with only vague and purely destructive proposals. Moreover. they are merely the pacemakers for Communism.
