LIFE-SAVING MEDALS

AWARDED TO PAPUAN NATIVES (United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) (Received 24th February. 10.40 a.m.) LONDON, 23rd February. Lloyd’s medal for saving life at sea was awarded to two Papuans, Lgna Kevau and Gari Pai, for heroism in rescuing Mrs Berge, whose husband and her four children and thirteen natives were drowned when the motor vessel Vaivau foundered. It is believed that this is the first occasion on which the medal has been awarded to natives.
