FIRE AT TAHUNA

PORTION OF COTTAGE GUTTED The central portion of a small cottage of three rooms on the Rocks road, Tahuna, owned hv Mrs A. Gould and occupied hv Mr C. E. Holmes was gutted by fire soon after 11 o’clock this morning. The Taluina Brigade was soon on the scene and made a good save by the use of their chemical spray engine. Tho Nelson Brigade engine arrived soon afterwards and made sure of no further spread of the fire with a jet of sea water pumped by the new engine. At the time of the outbreak there was no one at home, Sir and Mrs Holmes being in Nelson at their business. Tho cause of the fire is unknown.
