HOLLYWOOD FURORE
BRITISH ACTRESS WALKS OUT (United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph-Copyright) HOLLYWOOD, 18th February. Aboard a speeding east-bound train somewhere in the Middle West is Edna Best, a lonely British actress, bound for London on Wednesday next, and Hollywood is gasping because she walked out on John Gilbert on Tuesday, leaving him, n full cast of players and an irate director flat. Sbe sent a telegram saying: “Please forgive me. I am on my way hack to London and my husband. I am awfully homesick; besides I am just afraid I would not he any good in the picture.”
Leila ITynms replaced Edna Best after the furore subsided.
Edna Best appeared in the British film “Loose Ends,” which recently screened in Wellington. In this picture she was starred with Owen Nares. She is an actress of considerable stage experience.
