A. & P. ASSOCIATION

MEETING OF COMMITTEE Tlio monthly meeting of the committee of the Nelson A. and P. Association was held on Saturday evening. There were present: Messrs (J. L. Mead (president). J. Ingram (vice-president), J. Hunt, A. IS. Max, P. G\ Page, O. W. IJest, E. Win, W. Droit, P. Lusty, A. Thomson, F. Fairey, .John Hagen, T. Newman, ii Harkness, ('. Webby, It. I'aimer, W. Hill, 0. Maeniahoi'i, G. Malison, C, H. Ching, C. R. Sutton and VV. Martin. Apologies for absence were received from Messrs J. Big-gar, W. Hagen, W. 11. May, E. Smallbono.

The following new members were elected: Messrs 1). M. Rees (Nelson), Jas. Shaw (Stoke), E. N. Nalder (Nelson). The Jersey Cattle Brooders' Cflub asked the support of the Association in endeavouring to have the Royal Show held only in one centre—Wellington. Mr Fairey explained that this was a very debatable question, and he moved that the matter be held over till further correspondence had been received. Mr Macmahon seconded the motion.

Mr Dron was in favour of supporting the application. After further discussion Air Fairey withdrew his motion and the following resolution was carried unanimously:

"That this association support the centralisation of the Royal Show." The President was appointed delegate to the Electoral Committee for the purpose of the election of producers' representatives on the New Zealand Meat Producers' Board. The Director of the Lincoln College drew the assocition's attention to tho fortnight's course in agriculture from 30th June till 12th July. Mr Max mentioned that the expenses of such a course were about eleven guineas. The letter was received. A letter was read from the secretary of the Trotting Club stating that there was some uncertainty as to the date of the trotting meeting, but they were applying for 21st and 22nd November, tne "date provisionally fixed for the show.

It was resolved that the fixing o: the date of the show be held in abey ance until the next monthly meeting

SCHEDULE COMMITTEES

The schedule committees were elected as follows: Draught horses: Messrs John Hagen and G. W. Best, Light horses: Messrs T. Newman and J. G. Hagen. Dairy cattle: Messrs J. Hunt and AV. D. Dron. Fat cattle: Messrs F. W. Fairey and A. Thomson. Pigs: Messrs E. W. Win and C. Webby. Sheep : Messrs G. Manson and F. Page. Domestic produce: Messrs J. Biggar and F. Lusty. Industrial: Messrs J. Biggar and i". Lusty. Farm and garden produce: Messrs ' Reg. Sutton and H. Calmer. Dogs: Messrs W. Martin and W. Hill. Poultry: Mr Eric Harkness. Competitions: Messrs J. Ingram and A. E. Max.

Reports from the schedule committees are to be handed in at next meeting. Messrs Sanders and Douglas are to be asked to revise the schedule for school work.

STEER RIDING Mr Fairey spoke strongly in favour of steer riding as an event at the show. He saw this event at Palmerston North and it caused great fun. Other speakers stressed the attraction of the event, but the expense would be very great. It was finally resolved that particulars be obtained from Marlborough, where steer-riding had been a very successful event at the last show. GENERAL Mr Fairey moved that the Minister of Agriculture be invited to open the next show. After discussion the motion was earned. , The president, the vice-president, and the secretary were appointed a committee to secure judges for the next show.
