At the Stadium in a gruelling fight, Jack Haines (list 31bs) middleweight champion of Australia, outpointed Larry Brignolls (list) U.S.A. WORLD'S HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION SCHMELING RECOGNISED NEW YORK, 14th June. The Cincinnati National Boxing Association to-day recognised Schmeling as. the heavyweight champion of the world. SCOTT CHALLENGES SCHMELING MUST BEAT STRIBBLING FIRST (Received 16th June, 9.5 a.m.) LONDON, 14th June. Scott has issued a challenge to Schmeling. It is expected that the fight will be staged in England. Scott, however, must defeat Stribbling on 28th July. After that the British Control Board can insist on him as a genuine contender. No doubt the board will see that he gets a fair deal.
