)PROGRESSIVE, ASSOCIATION At the monthly meeting of the Stoke Progressive Association a letter was read from the Waimea County Council stating that the matter of attending to the watertables on the Station road had been referred to the Engineer. ' • ’Messrs Pickup; and Tate reported on the recent interview with the. Hon. H. Atmore in .connection. with the vesting of tfio waterworks reserve with the Waimea County Council. Mr Atmore' informed the Stoke deputation that ,ho would make an urgent appeal, to the Minister of Lands to get the matter settled. . ' • 1
As nothing further has been heard either from the Lands Department or from the Hon. H. Atmore it was resolved on the motion of Messrs Heath and: Monopoli that Mr Atmore be written to asking • him what progress had been made in the matter. It was resolved that tile Stoke Fruitgrowers’ Association be informed that its co-operation in connection with the Avater question Avould be welcomed by the Progressive Association. Mr Grant stated that the Stoke School Committee was approaching the County Council asking them to purchase the necessary land for a footpath on the :■ main road. A • footpath was desirable for the safety of the children as the motor traffic.
