EMPIRE BUYING
QUICKENING INTEREST IN UNITED KINGDOM MAKETING BOARD’S REPORT (United Pres# Association—By Eleotrio Telegraph—Copyright) . LONDON, 31st May. The annual report of the Empire Marketing Board drawn attention to the record imports by Britain of several foodstuffs from the dominions, notably 720,000 cwt. of raisins and sultanas, 2-10,000 cwt. of currants, 4,4(i4,000 cwt. of sugar from Australia; 1,302,000 cwt. of butter, 1,313,000 cwt. of cheese, and 109,000 cwt. of frozen pork from New Zealand; also 3,730,000 dozen eggs' from Australia and 220,000 dozen from New Zealand.
The report adds that the board is encouraged by the experience of the past year. There lias again been an appreciable quickening of interest in the theme of Empire buying among the men and women of the United Kimgdom.
