GIFT FOR CHRISTCHURCH
LARGEST YET MADE (By Telegraph-Press Association) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. A cryptic but important statement was made by the Mayor (the Rev. J. K. Archer) at a reunion of the Veteran Association, to the effect that Christchurch is shortly to receive a gift which will be greater in (inimical value Ilian any yet, made. The statement kvas not amplified in. any way and when approached the Mayor said that he would make a further announcement. The largest gift in the city’s history is £25,000 for an art gallerv, made by Mr R. E. McDougall.
