(Received 10th April 1930, 9.55 a.m.) CANBERRA, This Day. The Government has decided to cut next year's defence estimates by at least £500,000. It is claimed that the Department is run too extravagantly, and big savings can be effected without affecting the personnel. (Received 10th April 1390 9.55 a.m.) MELBOURNE, This Day. The Government will reduce the Air Force estimated expenditure by one fifth.- It is estimated that the dismissal of one third of the officers and men is imminent.
