ATHLETIC 266—TAHUNA 258 ' A NARROW VICTORY The Athletic-Tahuna match was concluded at Trafalgar Park on Saturday afternoon. This match was unfinished on the Bth March a when Tahnna had made 258 runs (Vasta 155 not out, Jansen 45, Johnson 15), and Athletic had six wickets down for 155 runs when stumps were drawn (Hiekson 57, Haycock 12, Guy 58 not out, Hill 7 not out). Guy and Hill continued their innings,, and by defensive cricket brought the total to 222 when Guy was bowled for 92. Hill was dismissed the third ball afterwards with 37 on. Up till now it had looked as if Athletic were going to secure the number of runs required quite easily, but the next batsman failed to get going and nine wickets were down for 222 runs. The last t,wo batsmen, however, played carefully and added 44 runs for the last wicket, leaving Athletic victorious by the narrow margin of 8 runs (Smith 21, Dore 23 not out).
