LOCAL TEAM WINS ON FIRST INNINGS On Saturday afternoon at Trafalgar Park) Wukutn played u team from the Midland railway works. The wicket was good and the weather perfect. As Midland brought twelve players Wakatn agreed to play twelve aside. Midland hatted first making 87. The visitors, who were used to playing on matting wickets, were not at homo on the grass. However, several batsmen put up good stands. Wood, Boyes and Smith each made a number of good shots. Melhvraith look a brilliant catch at short mid-on, off a hard hit by Lcnnanc. Stewart also hold a hot one, in the same position, from Boycs. Stewart, .a junior, made top score (40) for Wakatu, before being caught out. It was a very nice innings. Smith was Midland's most successful bowler, taking three wickets for 2!) runs.
