LOADING THE OTAKI
When wink on the wharf ceased on Saturday 17,1304 cases of apples had been loaded on the Otaki which has space booked for 55,000 cases for Manchester tfrul Glasgow. To-day's loading is expected to be 11,000, 3000 cases of which were pre-coolcd, It is Imped the How of fruit from the orchards will continue to enable Gip loading .if 10.0 CO to-morrow and the same number on Wednesday. An effort is being made to keep the ship in until the evening tide on Thursday. The holds on the Otaki.'are being kepi at u low temperature, 36 degrees, and the Fruit is being stowed under ideal conditions. There is plenty of ventilation and walking planks are laid over the eases to prevent heavy treading damaging the fruit. At the present time the Mapua and Motueka snipping points are each supplying about 3500 cases of export apples clailv. The Nelson shed is handling 3000 cases a day. Of these totals 1000 i uses from each place are for the Continent and Smith America, the remainder going into the Otaki.
