NELSON MOTOR CYCLE CLUB
EVENTS AT WAKAPUAKA ON SATURDAY
On Saturday afternoon several hundred spectators assembled on the Nelson Motor Cycle Club's track at Wakapuaka to witness motor cycle and light car events.
The track, which is on the sand, has some sharp corners which are hard to negotiate at top speed. Some good riding was witnessed and there were thrills aplenty for the spectators. The cross-country race was very exciting, there being numerous spills on sharp corners. However, no one was injured. The light car races were a novelty, two Singers, a Morris Minor and a Baby Austin competing. In the fist race the • Singer driven by J. Pawson led practically the whole of the distance and when about 200 yards from the winning post, went wide in lapping the Austin, skidding onto the mud and capsized, pinning the driver underneath. However, he was not injured and drovo the car in the second race which lie won easily.
In the evening the club held a successful social evening when the prizes were distributed. The details of the results are as follows: —
