On (be motion of Messrs Batt and Park, Mr J. Parker was elected coach lor the club's teams. It was decided that the club's appreciation of the services rendered by Mr S. Saturday 12th April was fixed as the club's opening day at the Cricket Ground.

A vote of thanks was accorded the Referees' Association and the retiring executive officers for their services last season.

On the motion of Messrs Clark and Matt the action of the president and vice-president in arranging a match with Pirates on their gala day, was endorsed. MINISTERIAL VISIT A meeting, convened by the Motueka District High School Committee in order to make arrangements in connection with the pending visit of the Minister of Education, the Hon. Harry Atmore, the .Minister of Native Affairs, Sir Apirana Ngata, and party, was held during the week-end. Among those who attended, were Messrs G. C. Black M.P., S. P. Clay (Mayor), S. G. Smith (president of the Progress League), D. Park and W. Stevens (Maori representatives). Mr Eric Tie vena occupied the chair. 'the official programme for Tuesday morning provides for a visit of the Hon. 11. Atmore to Hau school at 10.45 to meet the teachers and pupils and at 11.30 to address the assembled pupils of the Motueka High School. If was decided that at 12.30 the ministerial party be accorded a civic reception by the Mayor and afterwards entertained at luncheon by representatives of the school committee, borough council and local Maoris.

A committee, consisting of the Mayor, chairman of the School Committee and Mr Stevens), was set up to finalise ar-j rangements. Citizens desirous of attending the luncheon should communicate; with the committee not later than Monthly evening, in order to obtain tickets. OBSTETRICAL FUND A meeting of the Obstetrical Fund committee was held in the High School on Friday evening, Mr W. Nicholson occupying the chair. Collectors' reports wore handed in; and the secretary supplied the information that the amount of £42 was now in hand. An offer from the Motueka Brass Band to give a recital in (he street on Friday evening was accepted with thanks. Arrangements were made for a picture show to be held in the Majestic Theatre on Thursday evening, Mr 11. Saunders having generously offered to provide the pictures and to attend to the necessaiy details. ST. PATRICK'S BALL The ever popular St. Patrick's ball, held in the Institute Hall last week was well al tended, patrons from surrounding districts coming to swell the throng of dancers. Streamers of yellow and black intermingled with green and tree ferns formed the hall decorations. Lee's orchestra supplied first class music which, with the excellent sit-down supper, provided by an energetic ladies' committee made the evening a thoroughly enjoyable one for all present. Extras were played by Mr C Reynish and Major D. W. Talbot acted as M.C. Secretarial duties, m connection with the ball, were capably undertaken bv Mrs T. A. Anderson. The Rev. Father Carmine and Mr G. 0. Black M.P. were among the visitors to this very successful function.
