BAND AND MAORI ENTERTAINERS
The Brigli( water Band, under tho duetorship of Mr Rourne-Webb, gave an enjoyable concert in the Waimea West Schoolroom before a very fair audience. The pieces rendered by the band were of the best, and revealed good talent and careful handling by the conductor The band was assisted by Messrs J. Kempthorne and G. Francois, who gave vocal items, and Air F. W. Marshall who contributed humorous readings. The proceeds of the concert were devoted to the school funds. At tlie close the chairman of the School Committee (Mr S. O’Hara) tendered a very hearty vote of thanks to the band. The committee entertained the members at supper. On Saturday evening the Methodist Maori -Mission Party gave a very good concert in the Briglitwater Public Hall before a packed audience. The Maori of New Zealand is gifted with a rich mellow voice and the singing was greatly appreciated. During the evening the Rev. A. J. Seamer gave an interesting account of the work done among the Maori and made i an earnest appeal for support of that I worthy cause.
