SEWERS THROUGH SECTIONS
INSTEAD OF IN STREETS

RANGIORA, This Day. . The Borough Council has accepted the tender of Allan More, Christchurch, for £16,190 8s lid, for main sewers, and £2656 treatment work for tho Rangiora drainage scheme. The estimate of the engineer (Mr W. Stevens, who recently put the Hamilton scheme in) was £18,409 14s Od and £3,763 12s 6d respectively. An Auckland tender was discarded as it was below the engineer's statement of net cost.
The engineer is putting the sewers through the backs ot sections instead of in the street, which is the first instance of this being done in the South Island.
