COUNTY MATCHES ENGLAND V. The Rest made 370 in the fust innings against England, Freeman taking five for 132. England in the second innings made 109—Sutclifl'e 52, Hammond 59. Robins took five for 53. The Rest made 84 for four wickets. The match was drawn. Northants in the first innings made 281 — Timms 113, and in the second 229 for six (declared). Surrey in the first, innings made 208, Thomas taking live for 73, and in the second 175 — Shepherd BG. Clark took six for 52. Northants won by 127 runs. Leicester in the first innings made 138, Boyes taking five for 23, and in the second 109, Boyes taking five for 30 and Newman four for 48. Hampshire in the first innings made 150, deary taking six for 43, and in the second !)!) for two —Brown 00 not out. Hampshire won by eight wickets.

Sussex in the first innings made 201, Macauley taking five for 54, and in the second 285 —Bbwley 70, Parks 73. Dennis took live for 01. Yorkshire in the first innings made 205, Bowley taking six for/ 72, and in the second 128 for live.'- Sussex won on the first innings.

It is practically settled, according to Mr Donnelly, chairman of the Cricket Council, that an English side, unquestionably the best ever to come to the; Dominion, will visit here next season. The team will probably arrive in December. K. • Duleepsinjhi. and F. C. Woolley have already accepted invitations, and the balance' of the team of fourteen players will include some of the best amateur and professional cricketers. A. E. Gilligan. is mentioned as the probable captain. Eight professionals will be included.
