BOROUGH COUNCIL ELECTIONS

(Prom Our Own Correspondent) Nominations for Mayor iand councillors for tlie Motueka Borough Council close at noon on Thursday, but so far no. nominations have been lodged at the Town Clerk’s office. Afajoy D. W. Talbot, who occupied the mayoral chair, two years ago, has definitely decided to accept nomination for the position ; and Councillor S. P. Clay lias also signified his intention of seeking election as Mayor. It is* understood that Councillors E. R. Wra-lt-, 11. York and C. J. Boyes will agree to nomination again for the council. Councillor A. Canton, as far as can. be ascertained, will not seek re-election. Regarding new candidates, Air George Chapman’s name has linen mentioned as a probable nominee. The total number of names on the District electoral main roll is 920. which 7s approximately an increase of 150 over that of 1927. The supplementary list closes on Wednesday and will contain roughly about fifty names. HARBOUR BOARD The two retiring Borough representatives on the Motueka Harbour Board, Messrs R. P. Hudson and A. Tt. Edwards have again, been nominated. Messrs A. D. I’att and J. A. McGlaslien have also intimated their intentions of being candidates for the Harbour Board. NELSON HOSPITAL. BOARD AH's P. TT Aloffatt will again stand ns the Motueka representative on the Nelson Hospital Board.
