The first day of the Wairarapa Racing Club's two-day Easter meeting was held at Tauherenik.au .in line weather. The attendance was very large and the track in splendid condition. Results :
Maiden Hack Handicap, of 150 sovs; six furlongs—G Masher, 8.7 (J. Ellis,) 1; t Clarendon, 8.7, 2; 5 Streamer. 8.7. 3. Also started : Aremo, Battle Torque, Bicker. Degree. Projection, Reflector, Spearin, Spearopa, Spearmain. Sunkist, Tenure, Waihuri. Won bv a head iwth the other horses well up. Time. 1.14 4-5. Mckai Hack Handicap, of 150 sovs; seven furlongs—l Rabbi. 8.2 (Ellis), 1: 2 Stanchion, 9.0. 2: 5 Billion. 7.13. 3. Also started: 3 Moutoa Wonder, 4 Roi de Val, 6 Lady Spear, 7 Dermod, o Volplane. Won by half a length. Time, 1.16 2-5.

Tuhitarata Hack, of 150 sovs; one mile—4 Billion, 8.6, 1: 5 Kiriona, 7.13, 2; 7 Bissac, 7.10, 3. Also started: 2 Imarosebud, 1 Spearmiss, 6 Sun Yet Sen, 5 Money Mint, 8 Fallow. Won by two and a half lengths; half a length. Time, 1.40 2-5.
Martinborough Handicap, of 200 sovs; seven furlongs —1 Rorv Mar, 9.6. 1; 2 Maui, 10.1. 2; 3 Borsalene, 9.13, 3. Also started: 4 Bonogne, 5 Starboard Light, 7 Inferno, 6 Raukura. Won byhalf a length; a length. Time, 1.27. Ferry Hack Handicap, of 160 sovs: six furlongs—l Arikinui, .9.2, 1; 7 Projection, 7.0, 2; 8 AValerspear, 3.1, 3. Time, 1.13 4-5. The totalisator handled £23,309 as compared with £17,437 on the corresponding day last vear—an increase of £5872.
