HELD FOR RANSOM
BRITISH SUBJECT IN MEXICO (British Official Wireless) RUGBY, 27th March. Sir Austen Chamberlain stated that ransom of 24,000 dollars had been demanded for the release of Mr Reid, a British subject, and of an American citizen who were captured bv Mexican bandits. The British Minister" at Mexico City had addressed representations to the Mexican Government. He reported thatpursuit of the bandits by federal troop's had temporarily been suspended, and .that the St. .Nicholas Milling Company, by whom Reid and the American were employed, were treating for the amount of ransom.
