THREE- WOMEN SENT TO GAOL

WELLINGTON, This Day. A systematic' course of shop-lifting was related by Chief-Detective Ward in the Magistrate's Court to-day, when three married women, Annie Dean, Adreimie Lindsey Kershaw (21) and Mary Wearne (45) came before Mr Page, S.M. Against Dean there were seven charges involving £24 15s 6d, of thefts from shops and warehouses in Wellington and Christchurch; against Kershaw one charge; and against Wearne three charges of theft and one of receiving. Dean and Wearne were sentenced to six months' imprisonment and Kershaw to three months.
