ADEQUATE PROTECTION

MELBOURNE, 29th October,

The Italian Consul, Signor Cavalicre Mario Caros, incensed at the bomb outrages to-day, declared that the Italian community was enormously excited and was demanding drastic measures for the protection of Italian workers. Signor Caros added : "This is the fifth attempt on the .lives of my people. I therefore demand full satisfaction for my countrymen. My Government is not disposed to tolerate failure to adequately protect Italian residents in Australia. If action is not taken immediately they will be forced to take measures to protect themselves."

The Police Commissioner said the police were straining every nerve to stop the outrages. Cabinet to-morrow considers raising the reward from £SOO to £IOOO for information leading to the conviction of bomb throwers.

Two more Italians were admitted to hospital to-day as the result of rioting.

The Foreign Office informed the British United Press that it had not yet been officially informed of the full details of the Melbourne bomb incidents.
