CHRISTCHURCH RESERVES

NEW SUPERINTENDENT APPOINTED

(By Telegraph—Special to "The Mail")

CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. The Reserves Committee of the City Council reported to that body at its meeting last night that it had interviewed five applicants for the position of superintendent of city parks and reserves, rendered vacant by the resignation of Mr James Young, and recommended that Mr Morris John Barnet't, at present curator of the Oamaru public gardens, be appointed to the position. Mr Barnett had eleven years' experience in the Botanic Gardens at Dunedin during six years of which he occupied the position of foreman. He was for two years at the Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew, England, and for the last four years has held the position which he now occupies. He has experience in all work in connection with public gardens and parks, street planting, and forestry, including nursery work and the care and maintenance of plantations. The council unanimously adopted the recommendation.
