FIFTY-EIGHT MILLION VOTERS THE WOMENJS VOTE United Press Association—By Eleetrio Telegraph—Copyright Australian Press Association (Received 27tli October, 11.35 a.m.) WASHINGTON, 2(sth October. Fifty-eight million American citizens are eligible to vote at the election on 6th November and, 28,500,000, or 49 per cent., are women. The enfranchisement of women was established in 1920. The highest total of women attending the polls at any election since was 9,500,000, but in previous, contests since women voted there was no great issue like Prohibition. Both sides expect a much larger women’s vote this year. In the last' two elections women voted individually, just the same as men. This year, it is,claimed that a’ great preponderance of women will be found on the “dry” side.
