Tlie famous Clochester oyster feast, which has been an October feature in England for decades, and occasionally oratory by prominent speakers,' had the most strange guest ever to-day, who thrust his plate to his neighbour whispering, “I do not like oysters.” The offer was gracefully accepted. Nine thousand oysters were eaten, some guests consuming as many as seven dozen. The chief speaker was Sir Oliver Lodge, whose speech circumnavigated the universe, but omitted to refer to oysters.
