It was - unanimously decided that Mr Brash be nominated as tlie Nelson representative on tlie Control Board.

In speaking to the motion, the chairman emphasised the fact that owing to Mr Brash’s long and unique experience in dealing with the fruit industry, export in particular, it would be very hard to single out another representative to fill the post. It was agreed that meetings of tlie Motueka Association bo monthly at Lower Moutere and at Riwaka, botli meetings to' be held during tlie same, week. '‘FILLING THE GAP”

The chairman opened a discussion on the question of “Filling the Gap” and its relation to the fruit growing industry of Nelson province. Ho had noticed that the Nelson Progress League was organising a big deputation to wait upon the Government, the deputation to consist of representatives from local both ies and 'organisations. 'He ’ considered that if the Association was sufficiently interested it would be advisable to nominate a delegate. sXlajor Talbot outlined many new phases of development that would take place if tjie railway was put through, adding that not only would the fruit area benefit but the Nelson district as a whole. If things were left in abeyance development must necessarily continue only at the same slow pace as at present. After views along similar lines had been expressed by each inember and some discussion, ‘ it was decided to appoint the chairman as delegate from the Fruit Exporters’ Association.
