FROM PACIFIC COAST
ARRIVAL OF THE-GOLDEN FOREST
The Oceanic and Oriental Company’s American steamer Golden ?brest arrived from Pacific Coast ports via Auckland and Wellington early this morning, and berthed at the wharf. She loaded lumber, case oil and general cargo at Vancouver, > Seattle, Tecoma, Port Gamble, Eureka, San • Francisco and ‘Los Angeles. The latter port was left on 4th July, and fair weather was experienced until 28th July, when a N.E. gale was encountered. The steamer reached Auckland on 30th July, and, after discharging cargo, called at Wellington, leaving there at 4.30 p.m.-yes-terday, and arriving as above. Captain H. A. Wilhelmsen is in command, and he has with him the following officers: —Chief, Mr W. Springburn ; second) Mr G. Saarinen; third, Mr Hamren; chief engineer, Mr K. Townsend; first assistant, Mr F. Davidson ; second, Mr J. V. Ferenz ; third, Mr J. McLaren; wireless operator. Mr J. Welch: chief steward, Mr J. Hall. The Golden Forest, which was formerly the West Togus, proceeds from here to Timaru and Dunedin.
