PILGRIM PRINCE

VISIT TO AN OLD BILLET

(British Official Wireless)

RUGBY, 9th August,

The Prince of Wales returned to London last night, the first back of the pilgrims who have been attending the British Legion commemoration ceremonies in France and Flanders. The main body of pilgrims arrived early to-day. On his journey to Boulogne yesterday the Prince halted at St. Omer, where he was welcomed by the Mayor and inhabitants of the neighbourhood, in which, during the war, when attached to headquarters, he spent some time. Later, he broke his journey and paid a surprise visit to the farm ,at which he was billeted during the war for four months. The farmer received him in shirt sleeves, and he and his wife were much affected by the Prince s act. The Prince readily accepted an invitation to take; coffee, which was served in the living room of the farmstead. On reaching Boulogne the Prince visited the British war cemetery at Terlincthun.
