Rain on the first and third days interfered with play in the County cricket matches and stopped some games. Sussex in the first innings made 496. (Duleepsinhji 125, Bowley 122, -Tate 102; Robins taking four for 34). Middlesex in the first innings made 497 for seven (Killick 140, Hendren 158). Middlesex won on the first innings. Kent in the first innings made 309 for seven declared (Hardinge 73, Ashdown 97). Somerset in the first innings made 100 (Marriott taking four for 33) and followed on and made 195 (Hunt 53, Creswell 58; Marriott taking five for 44). Kent won fby an innings find 14 runs.
