Regarding relief -work for returned men;-the'"chairman stated that the Borough.: Council had \giyen employment vto two.reiuunjid soldiers. A sum not exceeding.32o.had been offered by the Association .tospa subsidised by the Cluneal for relief work. In. replv.to a- question, : the secretary stated'thaVtwo married; men in ill-health, had Teceived substantial.assistance from the Nelson. Sick and Wounded Soldiers . Fund; arid that an endeavour was being made to! secure a pension for one man. It was-resolved : that the ; annual picnic anid swimming carnival'be held on Ist February (Anniversary day). As it is the'-intention of the. executive to provide a greater variety of'side shows and a larger sports' programme than on the previous occasion, it was considered by all that & Saturday afternoon did not : affdrd sufficient time for the public to enjoy the various attractions and that; in consequence a full day was absolutely,necessary: ' The"' chairman expressed the opinion that in-the hear future it* would be advisable :tbset up a committee to go iri.to the question of building a hall or club room,-as membership had increased to over sixty. ".With "this accomplished tho Association could, in all probability, assist other.bodies—Girl . Guides, Boy Scouts'/'etc.—by' allowing them the use of thehall. .
TWe question of establishing a gymnasium for .the younger generation, under the control of the R.S.A. was discussed, the suggestion meeting with the approval of all present. A vote of thanks to Mr G. C. Goodman for the use of his room terminated the meeting.
