A tire yesterday gutted Messrs Ball and Welch's furniture store, in Faraday Street. The damage is estimated at £70.000. The building, which was formerly Ball and Welch's main ftirniItne .shop, was latterly used for storage purposes.
The institutin' on tin- building amount'- to several thousands, hut as the fiirnilnie \\ii*; owned by many different people the extent of the insurance thereon is unknown.
