new Plymouth; This Day. Lay increased his javelin record to 209 feet 4 inches in calm weather. Stahden, the Australian cyclist, won the mile race from 20 yards behind scratch. His colleague Gray won the half mile. Standen injured his leg in avoiding a fallen rider, but appeared in the two mile event and won it.
